Available Funding
- Up to £50,000 per project
- APRIL will fund 80% of the Full Economic Cost (FEC), which equates to a maximum of £40,000 per project
- The remaining 20% should be covered by the applicant institution or through additional funding sources
- Funds will be released upon successful completion of the project and submission of a final report
Who Can Apply?
- Open to UK-based academic and industrial institutions
- Collaborative proposals (academic–industry) are especially encouraged
Matched Funding
Projects with matched funding are strongly encouraged, as they demonstrate robust partnerships and a shared commitment to impactful innovation.
Project Focus
Proposals must align with APRIL’s vision and address one or more of APRIL’s pillars.

What We Expect
- Delivery of tangible outputs (e.g. tools, prototypes)
- Presentation of project outcomes at APRIL workshops and annual events
- Projects must be completed within 6–18 months
